About Me
Hi!
I’m Karin. For over 3 decades, I’ve been helping people just like you explore the “why” beneath your experiences. I’m like an insight-detective who can help you better understand YOU and how you got ‘here’. My style is eclectic, warm, supportive, safe, a little quirky and very smart. I am truly an expert when it comes to sitting with the difficulty and discomfort of life and my 30 years of experience is unparalleled in its uniqueness and effectiveness. I draw from a strong understanding of psychoanalytic theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Attachment Theory and Relational Therapy… combined with having lived a lot of life. All combined, I feel very rooted in my authenticity and professionalism. Together we’ll examine the patterns in your life that aren’t working for you and identify choices necessary for change.
I offer Individual Therapy, Clinical Supervision for Mental Health professionals, Circlework and Professional Development Coaching.
I started my career in 1995 as a home visiting Social Worker in the Bronx working to keep abused and neglected children out of foster care. I moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2000 and became an inpatient psychiatric therapist for adults and adolescents. It was there that I learned DBT and became a clinical supervisor. I returned to New York in 2007 and joined a group practice in Forest Hills, Queens where I treated adolescents and adults and continued to provide clinical supervision for the next ten years. In 2018 I started my private practice in Huntington, NY from where I offer both in-person and virtual treatment. And in 2024, I renovated my office creating a beautiful work and gathering space for myself and colleagues from the community. It will be a privilege to hold space for you there as you embark on your therapeutic journey exploring potential and healing.
My Approach
Therapy with me is rooted in connection. I believe that real change happens within the context of a safe, trusted relationship, one where you feel seen, heard, and respected. My style is warm, grounded, and collaborative. I bring humor when it’s helpful, directness when it’s needed, and compassion always.
I draw from decades of experience and a range of therapeutic modalities, including relational therapy, DBT, and psychoanalytic theory.
But I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I tailor our work to reflect who you are and what you need, honoring both your strengths and your struggles.
You can expect a space that’s both structured and fluid, where we can sit with the hard stuff, explore what’s not working, and move toward what’s possible. Whether we’re working in person or virtually, my goal is to create an experience that’s impactful, meaningful, and deeply human.
